Sad to say, the "Crazy Cuban" restaurant has closed.
Glenn Lindgren: The Crazy Cuban is actually in nearby Marietta, I guess you would call it a suburb of Atlanta.
Jorge Castillo: This restaurant is another one of many that we have found plopped down right in the middle of a strip mall.
Glenn Lindgren: Where we seem to find some of the best restaurants. This one is small, but cozy. The servers are very friendly here.
Jorge Castillo: Let me cut to the chase, and tell you what really makes this a great Cuban restaurant: ITPS!
Glenn Lindgren: What is ITPS?
Jorge Castillo: It's The Pork, Stupid! When a Cuban restaurant gets the lechón right, everything else seems to fall in line. The Crazy Cuban does a very nice roast pork, slow-roasted until it istender and juicy, and falling off the bone.
Raúl Musibay: You get your choice of two side dishes with every entrée, and they have something for everyone. To me, no Cuban meal is complete without frijoles negros and the yuca con mojo is cooked perfectly in a tangy garlic sauce.
Glenn Lindgren: I also like the yuca frita, crispy yuca slices (like French fries) served hot from the fryer with a tasty side of mojo for dipping.
Jorge Castillo: Don't forget the appetizers. They serve all of our favorites here. Especially good are the croquetas, either ham or chicken and the papitas rellenas. A slightly smaller version of this great Miami favorite, these delicate potato balls are stuffed with a delicious ground beef filling and fried golden brown.
Glenn Lindgren: They also have Frituras de Bacalao, which you don't see on many menus these days. If you haven't had these delicious fish fritters, you are in for a treat.
Raúl Musibay: The bistec palomilla with chimichurri sauce is excellent, a very generous serving of beef. They also have several sandwiches on their lunch menu. The sandwich stuffed with ropa vieja is very tasty.
Glenn Lindgren: The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. Cubans will appreciate the many photos of Havana that line the walls.
Jorge Castillo: Don't pass on the sangria, which tastes home made. It's a very refreshing compliment to the rich food.
